At the age of 25, Magda Czegledi had finished medical school, built a family practice, was married to a loving husband, and was active in her community. But behind the façade, she felt worthless and without hope.
To deal with symptoms of severe depression, Magda took doctor-prescribed medication. This provided only a brief period of improvement. After the birth of her son, her symptoms recurred and gradually worsened until she became suicidal.
After unsuccessful trials of many antidepressants, both individually and in combination, Magda’s psychiatrist recommended shock treatments. Over 2 ½ years and 99 treatments, Magda developed severe memory loss and had to give up the hope of returning to medical practice.
All her scientific knowledge and the expertise of conventional medicine had failed her.
In desperation, she reached out to Jesus. And He proved Himself faithful.
Despite her skepticism, Jesus taught Magda what faith is about. He provided vital supportive relationships, including a Christian psychologist who, in addition to using helpful forms of psychotherapy, taught her numerous lifestyle strategies for mental wellness.
Miraculously, yet gradually, Magda experienced healing.
Magda has been ministering to others who struggle with mental health since 2014. She provides peer support, educational presentations, and group training on the mental wellness principles that transformed her own life. In March 2025, Magda was hired by Rocky Mountain Calvary Chapel - as part-time staff - to expand her ministry there. Her main focus continues to be group work and she currently does not see individuals for private one-on-one coaching.
